Whatever the Weather

“They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.” Psalm 145:7 

Open our eyes Lord

“So teach us to number our days, That we may get us a heart of wisdom.” Psalms 90:12 If we stop and look around us we can see many reminders of the goodness of God. Perhaps it's an amazing sunset or sky filled with stars or maybe it's the smile and giggles of your child or the success of your latest project at work. Last week as we were driving home we took the time to get out of the car and go into a field. After walking a little while we all sat down to rest and lay back and looked up at the sky and started laughing. That moment simple as it was, was one the purest moments of complete happiness ever. We could have missed it if we hadn’t taken time to stop. It's so important to remember every good thing in our lives and to enjoy every stage or season. There is always something to thank God for but we can get so busy that we don't take time to stop and enjoy all our blessings and the God who loves to lavish them on us.

Simple Blessings 

“One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts. They will speak of the glorious splendour of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.” Psalms 145:4-5 Years ago we took some friends of ours on a walk in the countryside. We didn't realise that with two small children how long it would take. They stopped all the way to enjoy and explore things. Small children will stop and look at ants, pick flowers, blow on dandelions, find sticks and rocks that we as adults usually walk right past or over! They can enjoy such simple things and it seems that every moment is an adventure. How dull we can become as we get over familiar with the beauty and blessings that surround us every day. So often we allow our focus to be on our problems or the areas of lack in our lives without enjoying the what we do have.

Right Here Right Now is Good

“The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.” Psalms 145:9 A book that changed my life forever not so much the content but simply the title "Enjoying where you are on the way to where you're going". If we don't take time regularly to enjoy our blessings and the God who gave them to us what's the point really! Of course there are times when we are facing such horrible circumstances that it's hard not to be overwhelmed and to lose sight of the goodness of God. But if we have built up a catalogue of memories of all the ways God has blessed us over the years it will help us to overcome and make it through even the worst of times. 
 

Whatever the weather God is good and His goodness is all around us every day of our lives. Take time to notice and thank Him every day, you will be happier than you've ever been.

May we all find new hope, strength and happiness as we get fresh revelation and awareness of God’s goodness poured out on our lives.
